Evaluation Activity 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The camera that I used to take my media photos on was the Kodak C813 and the lead to connect the camera to the laptop to upload the pictures to be edited. The camera was easy to use as it was my personal camera, so I could choose which pictures I wanted, what colour photos that I wanted and the size I wanted them at.

I also used the DELL laptop to transfer my pictures too. I also used this to do most of my research on. I also used this to compare music magazines and genres to suit my magazine, and I tried to edit a few of my photos on here too.

I used photoshop elements 5.0 to make my magazine on. This was the programme I used the most as it took a while to decide how I was going to do my magazine. I learnt how to use most of the tools that photoshop provided and also used the editing on there to frame photos, changing the font size and colour.

I decided to use Dafont for the masthead of my magazine as I needed it to be bigger and stand out. It was easy to use because it showed you the actual font on the website before choosing to download it or not, and when chosen, it could then be added to photoshop, and easily changed the colour of it.

I used  picnik to edit my photos on. I used this website as I could upload the photos from my laptop and change the colour of the overall photo the lighting and choosing to change the size and add any text to the photo.
I used animoto to make a mood board at the beginning of the process. I used this instead of power point as it was easy to use and understand. The animoto was easy to upload to blogger and it was more of a way to makes notes than use whole paragraphs

I have used blogger throughout my media to put the research on that I have found, and any choices that I have made. It was easy to use and keep track of what you have found out, especially as you can label the posts. Blogger is easy to upload posts as you can sort out the post order.

All these have helped me to create my magazine. Especially the use of my camera, photoshop and blogger. The camera has helped as I could frame my photos, change the colours of them, and decide which shot to use to attract an audience for my magazine. Photoshop helped me as I could then go and upload my photos on to be edited more- if needed- then cut round unecessary back grounds, then add all the information that I had researched and planned from my blog. Blogger was helpful when doing my reseach and planning, as I could post updates with my magazine and also my process. It also was helpful when I wanted to decide to change something too as I could label up my blog posts and state the changes and label it in the same category before the change took place. My laptop also helped me a lot too. This is because I added all my photos to it, before editing them on photoshop. It was also used to access the internet and blogger and the laptop was on hand to easily upload new changes to my blog.

Overall, technology has been the most influential factor of my magazine because if I did not have internet access and several ICT technologies, it would not have worked.

  1. This is a comprehensive list Jemma. Try and include slightly more explanation regarding what these tools enabled you to do and how this shaped your final product.
