This is Hayley. She is 16 and lives in Leicester, where she is taking her A Levels in Btec Drama, Psychology and Sociology.I have chosen to use Hayley, as she fits one half of my target audience- females who are 16, becoming 17. My magazine would also be aimed at her as she is into artists such as: Mumford and Sons, Pink, Bombay Bicycle Club, My Chemical Romance, Biffy Clyro and Florence + The Machine- these all fit into the genre of 'indie or soft rock'-which I am aiming my magazine at, however, she is also a fan of female artists such as Lissie, Laura Marling and Ellie Goulding, all of which are mainstream artists.
To get her music she uses Spotify and Youtube along with buying music on iTunes and occasionally CD's from stores such as HMV. She also has an iPod which she will listen to daily, and will also listen to music to relax or find inspiration for personal drawings.
Her fashion comes through from her music choices, and will often try and find clothes which she has seen her favourite artist wear- such as Lissie and Laura Marling- or clothing she finds comfortable. She likes to shop in H&M, Topshop, Primark, New Look and River Island as it is affordable for her lifestyle, however, she will often shop in charity shops, as accessories which can be related to music can be found and she will then make them to be original to fit into her music style of rock or indie. Her fashion has also inspired her to often dress up in outfits and make up that make her look individual to match her music choices.
When she is not listening to music on the Internet or on her iPod, she will be watching films such as: The Dark Knight, Sweeny Todd, The Hangover- all of which reflect an obscure taste, however, she also likes to watch comedians such as: Jo Brand, Bill Bailey, Tim Minchin and Russell Brand. In a music magazine, the types of things that she will be looking for are: interviews from bands, competitions, new band recommendations, gig reviews and gig listings. She prefers things to be coloured in black and white, as this gives things a more minimilistic look and likes a bold contrasting colour, which will stand out and make her interested. She feels that if something looks unique and 'one of a kind' then it will appeal more to other people as it will be different to everything else out there.
