Genre and target audience

I have decided that my target audience will be aimed at my age group, both male and female and will be based on bands I think both males and females would like, such as: Oasis, Mumford & Sons, Florence & The Machine, Biffy Clyro and The Script. I have also considered the artist Laura Marling, however, she does not fit into the genres of the bands: 'indie/alternative/soft rock'. I think these are the main artists around that will attract both males and females of my target audience. I have chosen to target at both male and female, which will keep the audience broad. When making decisions like fonts, colour pallets and other images I will have to be careful that it will not be too masculine or feminine. I will have to co-ordinate the fashion sense of the person on the front cover with the genre of music, however, the fashion side is not the main focus of the magazine. I will still have to carefully consider this as the style of fashion may not go with the style of music, which would not make the magazine look continuous.
