Mock up cover pages

The black, white and blue colour scheme work well together as the blue and white go well on the black background, however, I think in my next mock up, I'll change one of the colours as I think that the black colour is the main dominant colour, and will only be better as a background colour, so I want to change it to see if it works. I tried to keep all my writing down the left side third, meaning I had to move the image towards the right hand side. I kept the barcode at the bottom hand corner of the page as this is the last thing the reader will see. The date, issue and price would look good under the title 'Melody' as it will be easy to see underneath, however, I think that the font is too bold and big, so I feel next time I can change this to make it smaller.I think having a pull quote next to the artist is a good thing as it will make them want to read the article to find out what else she says.

I like this cover, the picture is towards the right with the writing on the left. I decided to change the blue to the green. I think this works just as well because it's set on a white background and not a black background like the 1st design. I made the date, issue and price number smaller in this design, as requested from the first one. I have used alternative colouring on the page, going from green to black. I will always keep the barcode in the right hand corner as it's the last thing people will see. I also have put various bands in the bottom left hand corner, so it will attract different people who prefer different genres. Also offering free stuff on the page will attract people to buy the magazine. The only thing I feel I've missed is the artist name in the interview part. Overall, I feel this cover is better than the first one, but next time I'll use the blue as it goes with her blue colour dress and head dress.

  1. I think the way you've tied all the colours together makes the cover look really neat :) But maybe you could make the date and issue number a bit smaller?

  2. I agree with Liana, those can be made smaller as they are unimportant in the reader's eyes. I like the second one a lot more; I prefer the font of the mashead and the alternating colours of the cover-lines. I am not sure if the model matches your musical genre, however?
